FC Barcelona have launched a new application, FCB Capball – a football game with caps which lets Barça fans enjoy a new digital experience. With FCB Capball , the classic children’s game has been re-invented and with this new version, users can train and manage a team over a whole season.
This multi-player game allows users to compete in an innovative league system, where they can manage a team picked from a data base of more than 1,000 players from the history of the Club. Every player has their own characteristics and users can consult this via a historic profile which contains the most important information about the player. Each cap also has its own characteristics o the pitch, which can be improved through training and can wear any of the Club’s historic kits since 1899.
FCB Capball is a free app and is available in iOS for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is currently available in Catalan, Spanish, English and Chinese.
The Club’s Director of New Technologies, Dídac Lee, explained: “in line with the Club’s strategy to become leaders in football mobile apps, FCB Capball is a result of the FCB Apps Programme, which guarantees quality products and also gives entrepreneurs a great opportunity”.
FCB Capball is the second app to have emerged from the FCB Apps Programme – following the FCB Fitness app – which was launched by FC Barcelona together with Barcelona Digital, who have worked the Club in the technical definition and coordination of the programme, and is aimed at developers and companies with a mobile app already up and running or in the development stage who want to market it through the Barça brand.

The top ten Liga photos: the best images of the season 2012/13

The top ten Liga photos: the best images of the season 2012/13

The returns to action of Villa and Abidal, the support for Tito and Messi’s record are some of the best images
There have been all kinds of difficulties en route to FC Barcelona’s 22nd Liga title. Here we look back on an eventful year full of ups and downs in the form of ten particularly poignant images.
1) Villa scores on return
In the first game of the league season, against Real Societat (5-1), and after eight months out through injury, the Asturian returned to official duty, and marked the occasion by scoring the fight goal in an emphatic win.

2) Comeback at the Pizjuán
Two goals from Cesc and another from Villa in the final seconds turned 2-0 into 2-3 at the Sánchez Pizjuán. After beating Sevilla, Barça made it to six straight wins to start their campaign in perfect fashion.

3) Draw in the first Clásico
Game seven was at the Camp Nou, and was the first meeting with Real Madrid in the league. The game ended 2-2, with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo getting two goals each.

4) Nine goal festival at Riazor
The most spectacular game of the season has to Barça’s visit to Riazor in game eight. It ended 4-5, with Barça ending with ten men after Mascherano was red carded.

5) Eleven home-bred players
A first half injury to Alves, meaning he was replaced by Montoya, meant that FC Barcelona played with all eleven of their players being products of the club’s own youth system. Historic.

6) Dedicated to Tito
The last game of 2012 was on the road at Valladolid. It was the first match without Tito Vilanova, and his replacement Jordi Roura responded brilliantly, leading the team to a 3-1 win.

7) Half way with 56 out of 58
A 3-1 win at La Rosaleda, with some supreme football, meant FC Barcelona set a new record for the first half of a league season: 56 points out of a possible 58.

8) Anoeta: first defeat
A week later, in game 20, FC Barcelona lost for the first time in the competition. It came at Real Sociedad, and that was despite FCB taking an early 2-0 lead. Piqué was sent off.

9) Messi, half a season scoring
In Vigo, Leo Messi set a new record by going 19 consecutive matches scoring at least once in every game. In that time he notched up an unbeatable tally of 30 goals.

10) Abidal back
Frenchman Éric Abidal, who had been out of action for over a year, made his comeback at the Camp Nou on the day that also marked Tito Vilanova’s return to duty. It was like another title for Barcelona fans.

Xavi Hernández: 7 league titles and 24 winners medals in all

The Barça midfielder has picked up his seventh league title with the Club - the most of any player still playing – and together with ex-Madrid man Paco Gento, holds the record in Spain for most titles -24

Seven league titles. The first in 1999. The latest in 2013. Xavi Hernández has now won more Spanish league winners medals than any other player still in action. After making his debut in 1998, Xavi hasn’t stopped winning titles with both Bar´ça and the Spanish national side and this season’s league title means he has 24 different winners medals – equalling Paco Gento’s Spanish record.

The ex- Madrid player won 23 titles with his club side and one with Spain in a career that lasted 18 years from 1953 to 1971. Xavi has a contract at the Club until 2016 and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t overtake Gento – whose record has stood for 40 years – and set what would surely be a mark that would be very tough to beat.
Leading title winner for Barça

Xavi is the first Barça player to win seven league titles(1999, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), having previously been level on six with Antoni Ramallets (1948, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1959 and 1960) and Josep Guardiola (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 1999).
Of the current squad, Carles Puyol has won six league titles (2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), as have Víctor Valdés, Andrés Iniesta and Leo Messi, who at just 25 is surely set to break many more records if Barça continue to dominate in Spain and Europe.
